As we travelled from the mainland to the island we slipped on extra layers to keep warm. I wore Poet in the sling; she was cosy and she was close. At the airport I wrapped my scarf around her head in lieu of a beanie; multitasking.
My style is a blend of bohemian maxi skirts and classic French stripes. I wear yoga pants with long tee-shirts, ballet flats and a Mary Poppins bag (minus the lampshade). My wardrobe is a collection of vintage, second-hand, new, and borrowed. I usually wear a draped scarf around my neck; fashionable and practical (a great way to cover dirty little fingerprints). Sometimes I wear red lipstick.

A big heartfelt thank you to Luisa - photographer extraordinaire, amazing cook, sweetest companion - who travelled the apple isle with us.
I cannot get over how beautiful you all are- These photos are poetry. I have kept the sling up for as long as I can but my 20mth old now makes my old neck injury ache so- it makes me sad. Something about mama carry that is special, so special, Love Jxx
ReplyDeleteJodi,
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I love that skirt. You made it look so chic. I'm not sure I could pull of the same level of style with the same skirt. but I wish I had it so I could try.
You are seriously beautiful Jodi, you have an amazing doll-like face! I love your style too, always adding something borrowed/opshopped makes the new stuff look more interesting. Im with you on the scarves thing too.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Gorgeous. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteStunning, Jodi! Luisa has captured you all beautifully. Poet looks so content in the sling, close to her mumma.
ReplyDeleteOh the serenity! I adore the picture that looks like you and Poet are having a dance in the apple orchard.
ReplyDeleteEspecially lovely is the way your style is reflected in Che's - Grey knit, stripes and dark navy. Perfection!

These are the most beautiful photos - what motherhood feels like to me yet I haven't your grace and beauty to transfer it to film as you do. Really, so very lovely.
ReplyDeleteThose apple orchard photos should be framed on your wall. That cute as a button baby in her red bonnet and you in that swirling skirt- sublime. melx

ReplyDeleteWow! These pictures are gorgeous! I especially love the one of the three of you by the apple crate.
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely photos, I particularly like the one of you and Poet shot from the back. I've always wondered, is this kind of sling comfortable? I am thinking to buy one for the summer as the ergo seems to be a little warm and here is super hot, but I wonder if it would be comfortable enough to carry a 7 months old..
ReplyDeleteHi Mariella,
DeleteYes, sakura bloom slings are perfect from newborn till 3! If you live in a hot climate I would recommend a 'pure linen' sling - a single layer of Irish linen. Choosing a colour is always the hard part x
Thanks Jodi, I will give it a try!they look beautiful
DeleteWow. These Photos are simply stunning. I really love your (sling-)Style.
ReplyDeletebeautiful : ) what a lovely set of photos to cherish!
ReplyDeleteWow. Those images. What an incredible gift.
ReplyDeleteThat look on Poet's face as she's looking up at you from her sling just says pure love.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have so many of these precious moments captured in such beautiful photos so you can relive them over & over.
Devine images. Such harmony and beauty.

ReplyDeleteJust stunning.
ReplyDeleteJodi, you look gorgeous here. Such precious photos. x
ReplyDeleteBreathtakingly beautiful. You look like a French painting.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love babywearing, and the Sakura Bloom slings certainly look lovely, but are they worthwhile?
I have a moby wrap that I use here in London because it spreads the weight evenly on my back (it is warm though - perfect for here, notsomuch for warmer climes) but when we were in Sicily last week I DIYd an adjustable sling for the kiddo from a bedsheet which worked out great - and free!
An upcycling win I plan to recreate at home...
Hi there,
DeleteI find the slings to be incredibly worthwhile. I've worn quite a few different brands of slings and I find Sakura Bloom to be the most supportive of my body and my baby. I purchased one when I was pregnant with my second baby, before The Sling Diaries began, and from first wear I was amazed at the back and shoulder support and how confident I felt to wear Poet without needing to have the extra support of my hands. Your sheet DIY looks fabulous but I doubt it would adequately support my wriggly worm of an almost 10month old!
For our hot climate I have found the linen sling to be cool and breathable x
Thanks for responding! I'll have to see how we get on as Gabriel gets bigger - I guess I'm just wary of spending more money on baby things because I'm tempted by lovely photos. Always appreciate an honest recommendation though, thanks.
DeleteGosh, you are stunning Jodi. I loved wearing my babies (and I still wear Harper in the sling from time to time) and your words were so perfect.
ReplyDeletePoet certainly looks calm and content while being worn :)
Oh how I miss my sling! My boy isn't all that big but at 17 months he just won't stay in the sling as he will with the carrier- he turns over and tries to reach for the floor. So sad because it was so effortless. I never tried the Sakura- I do remember looking at it but maybe it was expensive? Can't remember. I have a Maya and it was reasonably supportive.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are so lovely. The skirt twirl makes me smile!
My goodness, you are going to be responsible for me having a third child if you keep posting that sort of idyllic, love-filled gorgeousness! Thank you for sharing the joy.
ReplyDeleteOh Jodi, you beautiful lady you. You look so blissfully happy and so blissfully stylish. Nothing more lovely than a divine picture of a Mama and her babies. And I want your skirt. xxx
ReplyDeleteThese are just so beautiful. Truly truly beautiful. OH I want to go on holiday now! xxxx
ReplyDeleteoh how i love these images!
ReplyDeleteso lovely! i have never been drawn to long, full skirts, but you have changed my mind. gorgeous! and somehow these photos make me wish it was fall here, even though we are just now coming into spring. where did you get that lovely bow for poet? and how do you get her to keep it in her hair? my two year old pulls everything out of her hair instantly...
ReplyDeleteJodi, these photos are too beautiful for words. It looks as though you had a truly memorable trip :)
ReplyDeletekate took the words right out of my mouth. so very, very beautiful jodi. my fave is the one where che is facing the apple cart and you and poet are turning around to the camera. the colour of her hat with the apples..! you just ooze style x
ReplyDeleteso many comments, so much delight, i have to add my own words of swoon. even as i write these words i want to go and have a look again, so stunning and delicious. Images of rosiness, hat, apples, lips and your delightful cheeks. I have loved my sling wearing years, the touch of their hands/head/body on your shoulder, arm, breast, secure and loved. I still wear Ilo in my sling (on my hip) and sometimes Poe likes to squeeze in as well (not at the same time). Hope you had/are having a gorgeous time in Melbourne. mwah.
ReplyDeleteSuch a style inspiration! I love that you never fall back on the sweatpants & old ratty tee shirt that so many American moms wear. It is so depressing to me to give up your style just because you have kids. Thank you for NOT doing that! :)
ReplyDeleteStunning Jodi. Effortless. xx
ReplyDeleteLove your skirt... where is it from? xx
ReplyDeletePS. I also love your sling and just went to buy one but i live in Australia and it will cost me an extra $50 to post it to me (a bit too much i think) Do you know anywhere else that might sell them online??
ReplyDeleteTook my breath away- so darn beautiful. What a treasure for your children.
ReplyDeletei love your style! & you have a very delicate & calm face!
ReplyDeletethe fotos are so beautiful!
